Carl
Frentress, Senior Wildlife Biologist
Carl joined Advanced Ecology Inc. in 2004 and brings
over 30 years of professional wildlife management
experience to the Company. Carl has extensive expertise
in waterfowl habitat management, bottomland hardwood
conservation and management of wetland
systems.
Carl received a Bachelor of Science degree in
Wildlife Science from Texas A & M University.
He spent his entire career with Texas Parks & Wildlife
Department. Carl has served in various positions
with TPWD including wildlife biologist with the
first enlarged team of non-game staff.
Carl was assigned as project leader for the statewide
habitat mapping project, which used satellite imagery
and remote sensing technology to produce large-area
land cover maps and associated data sets.

Carl’s next position with TPWD was as a wildlife biologist
for the Trinity-Brazos wildlife
regulatory district. In this position, Carl’s duties
included the expanded use of antlerless deer compartments,
eastern turkey restoration, assistance with public
hunting on WMAs, and quail management activities
on private land.
In 1982, Carl was promoted to the position of
regional waterfowl biologist for Northcentral and
East Texas. Carl's duties included strategic planning
for habitat conservation, aerial surveys of midwinter
waterfowl populations, acquisition of waterfowl
habitat acreage, initiation of the DU MARSH program,
and bottomland hardwood conservation and management.
In addition, Carl served on the Central Flyway
Technical Committee, was an instructor at the interagency
wetland workshops for in-service training of state/federal
personnel, and was heavily involved in the initiation
of the partnership with the West Gulf Coastal Plain
Initiative of the Lower Mississippi Valley Joint
Venture of the North American Waterfowl Management
Plan with implications for regionally-based landscape-level
integrated bird management under the North American
Bird Conservation Initiative.
Carl has received numerous awards including The
Excellence in Wildlife Conservation Award presented
by the Texas Chapter of The Wildlife Society in
1999, The Conservation Award, Employee Recognition
and Awards Program presented by Texas Parks and
Wildlife Department in 1988 and The Wildlife Conservationist
of the Year presented by The Sportsmen Conservationists
of Texas in 1992.
Carl is long time member of The Texas Chapter
of The Wildlife Society. |
